Brazil
Brazilians are very religious, Christians for a large majority: Christmas (Natal) therefore remains a major holiday here. This is an opportunity to get together with the family over a good dinner. For ceia (dinner) in Natal, turkey (peru) remains the dish of choice. Then, as in France, you will find many nativity scenes, some of which are alive. Midnight mass is also a very popular celebration.
Portugal
Tradition has it that at Christmas Portuguese families get together on December 24 for dinner and cod dishes are served, although roast turkey dishes and other meats, which were usually eaten on following days, also begin to integrate the menu of the 24th. For dessert, you cannot miss the Bolo-Rei, filled and garnished with candied fruit or dried fruit, in addition to other characteristic cakes of the season such as the Broas Castelares and traditional baths like filhós, sonhos and rabanadas.
