Common Professions in Tamil

Tamil Nadu is a vibrant state with a diverse range of professions. Here are some of the most common professions you may encounter:

  • Doctor - மருத்துவர் (marutthuvar)
  • Teacher - ஆசிரியர் (aasiriyar)
  • Engineer - பொறியியல் பெறுப்பு (poriyiyal perupp)
  • Lawyer - வழிமுறையாளர் (vazhumuraiyaalar)
  • Accountant - கணக்காயக் கணக்காயக் கற்கல் கல்வி (kanakkaayak kanakkaayak karkal kalvi)

You can also ask someone about their profession by saying, "உங்கள் பணியாளர் யார்? (Ungal paniyaalar yaar?)", which means "What is your profession?"

Talking About Your Own Job

To talk about your own job in Tamil, you can use the following sentence structure: "நான் ஒரு [job/profession] ஆகிறேன் (Naan oru [job/profession] aagiren)", which means "I am a [job/profession]."

For example, if you want to say "I am a teacher," you would say "நான் ஒரு ஆசிரியர் ஆகிறேன் (Naan oru aasiriyar aagiren)". Here are a few more examples:

  • "வணக்கம், நான் [உங்கள் பெயர்], நான் [உங்கள் நிறுவனத்தின் பணியில்] உள்ளேன். (Vanakkam, naan [ungal peyar], naan [ungal niruvanathin panayil] ullaien.)" - Hello, I am [your name], and I work at [your company].
  • "உங்கள் தொழிலாளர் யார்? எங்கு வேலை செய்கிறார்கள்? (Ungal tozhilalar yaar? Engu velai seigirargal?)" - Who is your employee? Where do they work?
  • "நாங்கள் உங்களுடைய புதிய உயிரினங்களை அரசுக் கடைசியிலிருந்து வழங்க முடியும். (Naangal ungaludaiya pudhiya uyirinangalai arasu kadasiyilirundhu vazhanga mudiyum.)" - We can provide you with the latest technologies from the government.
