As a Urdu language teacher with over 20 years of experience, I believe vocabulary is the foundation of any language. In this lesson, we will focus on learning the words for the days of the week and months in Urdu. By the end of this lesson, you will have the language skills to talk about dates, schedule events, and make plans in Urdu.

Days of the Week

Urdu, like many other languages, has borrowed the names of the days of the week from other cultures. Most of the days are named after celestial bodies or gods from ancient mythology. Here are the Urdu names of the seven days of the week, along with their English translations and pronunciations:

پیر peer Monday

بدھ budh Wednesday
جمعرات jumeraat Thursday
جمعہ juma Friday

Months of the Year

  • بستریں رمضان میں فروخت کے لئے دستیاب ہیں (bistreen ramzan mein farokht kay liye dastiyab hain) - "Beds are available for sale in the month of Ramadan."
