Polite Commands

Polite commands are often used when speaking to strangers, people older than you, or people you don't know well. They are also used to show respect to someone who is in a higher position than you, such as a teacher or a boss.

To form a polite command in Tatar, follow these steps:

1. Take the infinitive form of the verb (the form that ends in "-magyn"). 2. Remove the "-magyn" ending and add "-as" instead. 3. Add the suffix "-yn" or "-n" to the end of the verb, depending on the vowel harmony rules.

Here are some examples:

Tatar Pronunciation English
китап окумаңыз kítap okúmanız Please read the book
саламат езмесеңез salamat ézmeseniz Don't eat unhealthy food
яңы мәселә җибәрегез yáñı mäsälä jibäregez Please solve the new problem

As you can see, the polite commands end in "-yz" or "-z" depending on the vowel harmony rules of the verb. For example, if the verb ends in a vowel, you add "-yz" to the end. If the verb ends in a consonant, you add "-z" instead.

Informal Commands

Informal commands are often used when speaking to family members, friends, or children. They are less formal than polite commands and are usually formed by using the stem of the verb.

To form an informal command in Tatar, follow these steps:

1. Take the stem of the verb (the form that ends in the last vowel). 2. Add the suffix "-а" or "-я" to the end of the verb, depending on the vowel harmony rules. 3. Add the relevant personal pronoun at the beginning of the verb to show who the command is addressed to.

Here are some examples:

Tatar Pronunciation English
китап оку kítap oqu Read the book (informal)
саламат езмә salamat ézmä Don't eat unhealthy food (informal)
яңы мәселә җибәр yáñı mäsälä jibär Solve the new problem (informal)

As you can see, the informal commands are formed by adding "-а" or "-я" to the end of the verb stem, depending on the vowel harmony rules. Then, the personal pronoun is added at the beginning of the verb to show who the command is addressed to.

Using Commands and Requests in Different Situations

Now that you know how to form commands and requests in Tatar, it's time to practice using them in various situations. Here are some examples:

1. At a restaurant: - "Төшкән кабырга бир киләммет авын" (Töşkän kabırğa bir kilämmät awın) - Can I have a glass of water, please? (polite) - "Сүлеймән, йемәгеңе бар чөчөгүҙү бирәрегез" (Süleyman, yemäğenge bar çöçögüzü beräregäz) - Suleyman, pass me the spoon, please. (informal)

2. At the office: - "Минем кабинетка кирәк" (Minem kabinetka kiräk) - I need to enter the office. (polite) - "Әдәм, Тест жапсын" (Ädäm, Test japsın) - Adam, do the test. (informal)

3. At school: - "Рәсмийле кирмәгез" (Räsmiyle kirmägez) - Do not enter the official room. (polite) - "Хәмиде жоңга карады" (Xämide joñğa karady) - Xamide, look up. (informal)

As you can see, commands and requests can be used in a wide variety of situations, and it's important to know how to use them correctly based on the level of formality required.
