The verb "be" is used to express existence, identity, or a state of being. In Urdu, the verb "be" is conjugated differently depending on the subject of the sentence. The conjugations are as follows:

Let's have a dialogue:
* Person 1: کل کیا کروگے؟ (Kal kya karoge?)
* Person 2: میں کام پر جاؤں گا۔ (Main kaam par jaunga.)


* Person 1: Main hoon. (I am.)
Translation:
* Person 2: Tum ho. (You are.)
* Person 1: What will you do tomorrow?
* Person 1: Woh hai. (He/She/It is.)
* Person 2: I will go to work.
* Person 2: Hum hain. (We are.)
* Person 1: Aap hain. (You are.)
* Person 2: Unhain hain. (They are.)


The verb "be" can also be used to express a state of being. For example:
== Negative Sentences ==


* Person 1: Main thak gaya hoon. (I am tired.)
In Urdu, negative sentences are formed by adding the word "نہیں" (nahi) after the verb "be". Take a look at the examples below:
* Person 2: Tum thi hui ho. (You are bored.)
* Person 1: Woh khush hai. (He/She/It is happy.)  
* Person 2: Hum ghabra rahe hain. (We are scared.)
* Person 1: Aap pareshan hain. (You are worried.)
* Person 2: Unhain dar hai. (They are afraid.)


The verb "be" can also be used to express identity. For example:
* میں پاکستانی نہیں ہوں۔ (Main Pakistani nahi hun.) - I am not Pakistani.
* وہ کام نہیں کر رہا۔ (Woh kaam nahi kar raha hai.) - He is not working.


* Person 1: Main Imran hoon. (I am Imran.)

* Person 2: Tum Ali ho. (You are Ali.)
* Person 1: Woh Zara hai. (He/She/It is Zara.)
* Person 2: Hum Asad hain. (We are Asad.)
* Person 1: Aap Farah hain. (You are Farah.)
