Urdu Grammar - Conditional Mood

Hi Urdu learners! 😊
In today's lesson, we will be discussing the conditional mood in Urdu grammar. The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an event that may or may not happen in the future. It is also used to express wishes and desires.

Formation of the Conditional Mood[edit | edit source]

The conditional mood is formed by adding the suffixes -e and -eN to the verb stem. The suffix -e is added to the first person singular (I) and the suffix -eN is added to the second and third person singular (you, he/she/it).

For example:

  • To eat (verb stem): khana
  • I would eat: khaane
  • You would eat: khaaneN

Usage[edit | edit source]

The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an event that may or may not happen in the future. It is also used to express wishes and desires.

For example:

  • If I had the money, I would buy a car.
  • I wish I could go to the beach.

Here are some examples of the conditional mood in action:

  • If I had the time, I would visit my grandparents.
  • If I had the money, I would buy a new phone.
  • If I had the energy, I would go for a run.
  • If I had the courage, I would ask her out.
  • If I had the opportunity, I would travel the world.
