How to construct Plural in Polish[edit | edit source]

To construct the plural of a noun, you have to identify the ending in the singular and then refer to this table:

Singular Plural Example
-ka, -ga -ki, -gi noga - nogi (leg - legs)
-ca, -ea, -ia, -ja, -la, -ża (-rza) -ce, -ee, -ie, -je, -le, -that (s) róża – róże (rose - roses)
- [Everything else] + a - [Everything else] + y torba – torby (bag - bags)

Remember that rz sounds like ż

  • burza - burze (storm - storms)

Plural of neutral nouns[edit | edit source]

To form the plural of neutral nouns it is necessary to change the -o , the -e or the -um to -a

  • window - windows
  • museum - museums

The plurals of nouns ending in  are irregular and we will see them later ...

Plural of masculine nouns[edit | edit source]

To pluralize masculine nouns, look at the last letter and they follow similar rules to feminine nouns.

Singular Plural Example
-k, -g -ki, -gi bok - boki (side - sides)
-c, -j, -l, -ż (-rz) -ce, -i, -le, -że (-rze) garage - garages (garage - garages)
