Tajik Grammar - Future Tense
Hi Tajik learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the future tense in Tajik. We will look at how to form the future tense, as well as some examples of its use.
The future tense is used to talk about actions that will happen in the future. In Tajik, the future tense is formed by adding the suffix -манда to the verb stem. For example, the verb хонед (to go) becomes хонедманда (will go).
Examples
Tajik | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
Ман ба духтари мардум мекунам | Maan ba duhtari mardum mekunam | I will meet my friends tomorrow |
Шумо ба духтари хонедманда | Shumo ba duhtari xonedmando | You will go with your friends |
Он ба духтари гузаредманда | On ba duhtari guzaredmando | He will play with his friends |
Мо ба духтари боён доштанда | Mo ba duhtari boyon doštando | We will eat with our friends |
Шумо ба духтари байни кунедманда | Shumo ba duhtari baini kunedmando | You will watch a movie with your friends |
As you can see, the future tense is formed by adding the suffix -манда to the verb stem.
