Language/Armenian/Grammar/The-Present-Perfect-Tense
The present perfect tense is used to indicate action which was completed in the past, but which is connected to the moment of speech. The meaning and function of present perfect in Armenian is similar to that in English.
1) Ես իմ գործն ավարտել եմ: I have finished my work.
2) Նրանք երբևէ Մոսկվայում չեն եղել։ They have never been to Moscow. The tense is formed by perfect participle and present auxiliaries.
Here are 2 examples.
The present perfect is often used in sentences with temporal adverbs like: արդեն -“already”, դեռ - “yet”, դեռևս - “yet”, “still”, երբևէ - “ever”, and երբեք “never.”
1) Նա երբեք ձուկ չի կերել։ He has never eaten fish.
2) Ես այդ գիրքն արդեն կարդացել եմ: I have already read that book.
3) Ես այդ գիրքն արդեն կարդացե՞լ եմ։ Have I already read that book?
