Basic Vocabulary[edit | edit source]
Before we start, let's learn some basic vocabulary related to giving opinions:

Giving Your Opinion[edit | edit source]
To give your opinion in Turkmen, you can start by using the phrase "meniň fikrim" which means "my opinion". Here are two examples:
- Example 1:
Person 1: Türkmenistanyň merkezi Aşgabat şäheri hakynda nähili fikirleri bar? Translation: What do you think about the capital city of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat? Person 2: Meniň fikrim uly, Aşgabat şäheri nämeçäkde sagatlar boyunça bezeglerle gurlanýar. Translation: My opinion is that Ashgabat is great, as it is decorated with clocks in many places.
- Example 2:
Person 1: Olaryň günümyzyň rukhnamasynda ýer almak bardy? Translation: Did they have a place in the history of our nation? Person 2: Meniň fikrim, ulary ýaly milli taryhymyzyň beýany özetdir. Translation: My opinion is that they summarize our national history.
So as you see in these examples, you can use "meniň fikrim" to start giving your opinion, then follow it by your thoughts.
Agreement and Disagreement[edit | edit source]
To agree with someone's opinion, you can use the phrase "seniň fikirine mende hem-de" which means "I think the same as you".
- Example:
Person 1: Türkmenistanda uly möhümçilikli işler başlanýar. Translation: Important works are being started in Turkmenistan. Person 2: Seniň fikirine mende hem-de, men de şu kynayyny gorkýaryn. Translation: I think the same as you, I also see this as a success.
To disagree with someone's opinion, you can use the phrase "meniň fikrim başga" which means "my opinion is different".
- Example:
Person 1: Turkmen kahwalary türkmen dokma aýaklary üçin geljekdir. Translation: Turkmen carpets are suitable for Turkmen traditional shoes. Person 2: Meniň fikrim başga, biziň aýaklarymyz ähli wezipäk we ellesmelek üçin maňyly ýöne geçirilendir. Translation: My opinion is different, our shoes are made to be comfortable and easy to move in, so expensive carpets are not suitable for them.
Cultural Information[edit | edit source]
Turkmen people value opinions and ideas of others. They also appreciate honesty and direct communication. If you have an opinion that differs from someone else, you can express it respectfully and you will be respected for it.
In addition, Turkmen culture values hospitality and kindness. They will often ask for your opinion or offer theirs as a way to be friendly and build relationships. So don't hesitate to share your thoughts and ideas!
