In this lesson, we will learn new vocabulary related to animals. Morocco is known for its diverse flora and fauna. From the Sahara desert to the High Atlas Mountains, the wilderness of Morocco is home to many animal species. Let's discover some of them!

Before we start with the vocabulary, let's look at some interesting facts about animals in Morocco.

- The Barbary macaque, a type of monkey, is only found in Morocco and Algeria.

- Morocco has the largest population of Northern Bald Ibis, a bird species that was extinct in Europe for a long time, before it was successfully reintroduced.

- The Atlas Cedar forests, found mainly in the Atlas Mountains, are home to Barbary macaques, Atlas lions, and Atlas bears.

  • Person 1: لقد شريت قِطَّة جديدة (I bought a new cat)
  • Person 2: على جد؟ ما اسمها؟ (Really? What's her name?)
  • Person 1: اسميتها بشرى (I named her Bashira)

Now, let's move on to some wild animals that you can see in Morocco.

  • Person 1: هل رأيت يوماً ما أسداً؟ (Have you ever seen a lion?)
  • Person 2: نعم، في حديقة أسود الأطلس (Yes, in the Atlas Lions Park)
  • Person 1: ما شعورك لدى رؤيته؟ (How did you feel when you saw it?)
  • Person 2: كنت مرعوباً وفخوراً في نفس الوقت (I was scared and proud at the same time)

Morocco is a haven for bird lovers. It has a diverse range of bird species. In fact, it is one of the most important countries for bird watching in the world.

  • Person 1: هل رأيت يوماً بومة؟ (Have you ever seen an owl?)
  • Person 2: نعم، في حديقة الطيور ("Yes, at the bird park.")
  • Person 1: ما اسم طائرك المفضَّل؟ (What's your favorite bird?)
  • Person 2: أحب العصافير لأنها تجعل الحديقة تبدو جميلةً (I like sparrows because they make the garden look beautiful.)
