Definition[edit | edit source]
This character is itself a common radical. At the left side of a character it is written as 牜 and is referred to colloquially as 牛字旁 niúzìpáng “side made up of the character 牛.” It appears as a radical in 物 wù and in 特 tè. Distinguish 牛 from 干 gān, 半 bàn, 平 píng, and 年 nián.
