In this lesson, we will be learning how to count to 10 in Macedonian! As any language, Macedonian has its own unique numbering system that is useful to learn and use in everyday life. Don't worry, it's quite easy and straightforward! Let's get started

Macedonian Numbers[edit | edit source]

Macedonian Pronunciation English
еден /'ɛdɛn / one
два /dva/ two
три /tri/ three
четири /'t͡ʃɛtiri / four
пет /pɛt/ five
шест /ʃɛst/ six
седум /'sɛdum/ seven
осум /'ɔsum/ eight
девет /'dɛvɛt/ nine
десет /'dɛsɛt / ten

Let's have a look at how we can use these numbers in a conversation:

A: Колку часа е? (Kolku chasa e?) - What time is it?

B: Седум часот. (Sedum chasot.) - It's 7 o'clock.

A: Колку години имаш? (Kolku godini imash?) - How old are you?

B: Имам девет години. (Imam devet godini.) - I am nine years old.

A: Здраво, како си? (Zdravo, kako si?) - Hello, how are you?

B: Добро сум, благодарам. А ти? (Dobro sum, blagodaram. A ti?) - I'm good, thank you. And you?

- Macedonian is the official language of North Macedonia, spoken by around 2 million people.

- The Macedonian language is a part of the Slavic language family and shares similarities with Bulgarian, Serbian, and other Slavic languages.

- The Macedonian alphabet has 31 letters, including 3 variants of the letter "s".

- Macedonian is the only official language of North Macedonia, but Albanian, Turkish, and Romani are also spoken in the country.
