  • Macedonian is an Eastern South Slavic language. Spoken as a first language by around two million people, it serves as the official language of North Macedonia. Macedonian is also a recognized minority language in parts of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, and Serbia and it is spoken by emigrant communities predominantly in Australia, Canada and the United States.
  • Macedonian (Македонски јазик, makedonski jazik) is a language belonging to the South Slavic group of the Indo-European language family. Like Bulgarian, it comes from the evolution of Slavonic (which still exists as a liturgical language).
  • Macedonian has been the official language of North Macedonia since 1991, known as the Republic of Macedonia until 2019. It was one of the official languages ​​of Yugoslavia from 1945 to 1991, where it has two million speakers.
  • Macedonian is also spoken in northwestern Greece, eastern Albania, southwestern Bulgaria in the Strouma and Mesta valleys, as well as by a large diaspora settled in Western Europe, North America.
