In this lesson, we will learn how to count to 10 in Kazakh. Knowing how to count is essential in any language, and it is no different in Kazakh. Once you have mastered counting to 10, it will be easier for you to count to higher numbers. So let's get started!

Kazakh is spoken by over 10 million people worldwide and is the official language of Kazakhstan. The language uses the Cyrillic alphabet and has many unique pronunciation and grammar rules. Knowing the basics, such as how to count, will help you learn the language faster. In this lesson, we will go over the numbers one through ten in Kazakh and show you how to use them.

Counting to 10[edit | edit source]

In Kazakh, numbers are written using the Cyrillic alphabet. Here are the numbers one through ten:

Kazakh Pronunciation English Translation
бір beer One
екі yeki Two
үш wsh Three
төрт tort Four
бес bes Five
алты alty Six
жеті jeti Seven
сегіз segiz Eight
тоғыз toghyz Nine
он on Ten

An easy way to remember the numbers is to practice pronouncing them one by one while looking at the table above. Once you can do that, try to remember them in order. Here's an example dialogue to demonstrate how to use these numbers in context:

  • Person 1: Бір! (One!)
  • Person 2: Екі! (Two!)
  • Person 1: Үш! (Three!)
  • Person 2: Төрт! (Four!)
  • Person 1: Бес! (Five!)
  • Person 2: Алты! (Six!)
  • Person 1: Жеті! (Seven!)
  • Person 2: Сегіз! (Eight!)
  • Person 1: Тоғыз! (Nine!)
  • Person 2: Он! (Ten!)
