In this lesson, we will learn how to give our opinion in Gujarati. Expressing opinions is important in any language as it helps you to communicate effectively with others. You will also learn some cultural information and interesting facts about Gujarat, India. Let's get started!

Giving Your Opinion[edit | edit source]

In Gujarati, to express your opinion, you can use the following phrases:

Gujarati Pronunciation English
મારો મત છે māro mat chhe My opinion is
મને લાગે છે manē lāgē chhe I feel that
મારું માન્યતા છે māruṁ mānyatā chhe My belief is
હું યકીન રાખું છું કે huṁ yakīn rākhuṁ chuṁ kē I am sure that

Here is an example of a dialogue:

  • Person 1: મને લાગે છે કે આ ફિલ્મ ખૂબ સરસ છે. (manē lāgē chhe kē ā philm khūb saras chhē.) (I feel that this movie is very good.)
  • Person 2: અને હું તેને હજી નહીં જોઇ હતો. (anē huṁ tēnē hajī nahīṁ jō'ī hatō.) (And I haven't watched it yet.)

You can also express your opinion by using an adjective in the sentence. Here are some examples:

Gujarati Pronunciation English
હું ખુશ છું huṁ khush chuṁ I am happy
હું દુઃખી છું huṁ duḥkhī chuṁ I am sad
હું વિશ્વાસ કરું છું huṁ viśvās karuṁ chuṁ I believe

For example:

  • હું ખુશ છું કે તે દિન મળશે. (huṁ khush chuṁ kē tē din maḷashē.) (I am happy that we will meet that day.)
