In today's lesson, we will be discussing the conditional mood in Gujarati. The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an event that may or may not happen in the future. It is also used to express wishes and desires.

The conditional mood in Gujarati is formed by adding the suffixes -เช, -เชตเซเช‚, -เชตเซ‡, -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€, -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเชพเช‚, -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€เช, -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€เชจเซ‡, -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€เชจเซเช‚, -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€เชจเซ‡เชตเชพเชณเซ‹, -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€เชจเซเช‚เชตเชพเชณเซ‹, -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€เชจเซ‡เชตเชพเชณเซเชฏเซเช‚, -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€เชจเซเช‚เชตเชพเชณเซเชฏเซเช‚ to the verb stem.

Formation[edit | edit source]

The suffixes are added to the verb stem depending on the person and number of the subject.

  • For the first person singular (I), the suffix -เช is added.
  • For the second person singular (you), the suffix -เชตเซเช‚ is added.
  • For the third person singular (he/she/it), the suffix -เชตเซ‡ is added.
  • For the first person plural (we), the suffix -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€ is added.
  • For the second person plural (you), the suffix -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเชพเช‚ is added.
  • For the third person plural (they), the suffix -เชตเซเช‚เชฅเซ€เช is added.

Usage[edit | edit source]

The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an event that may or may not happen in the future. It is also used to express wishes and desires.

For example:

  • If I had more time, I would go for a walk. (เชฎเชจเซ‡ เชตเชงเซ เชธเชฎเชฏ เชนเซ‹เชฏ เชคเซ‹ เชฎเชจเซ‡ เชชเช—เชฒเซเช‚ เชœเชพเชตเซเช‚ เชนเชคเซเช‚.)
  • I wish I could fly. (เชฎเชจเซ‡ เช‰เชกเซ€เชฏเซเช‚ เชนเชคเซเช‚ เชคเซ‹ เช…เชšเซ‚เช• เชฐเชนเซเชฏเซเช‚.)
  • If I had enough money, I would buy a car. (เชฎเชจเซ‡ เชชเซ‚เชฐเซเช‚ เชชเชฐเชฟเชถเซเชฐเชฎ เชนเซ‹เชฏ เชคเซ‹ เชฎเชจเซ‡ เช•เชพเชฐ เช–เชฐเซ€เชฆเซ€ เชนเชคเซ€.)
