Forming the Conditional Mood

The conditional mood in Georgian is formed by adding the suffix -ან/-ენ to the verb stem. For example, the verb გამოვიდა (to come out) has the stem გამოვიდ- and the conditional form is გამოვიდან (would come out).

Irregular Verbs

There are some irregular verbs in Georgian which have different stems in the conditional mood. For example, the verb გამოვარდება (to finish) has the stem გამოვარდ- in the conditional mood, instead of the usual გამოვარდე-.

When to Use the Conditional Mood

The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or a wish. It can also be used to express politeness or to make a suggestion.
