Who is this meetup for?
If you're learning a language and want to practice speaking with native speakers and get tips from other learners, this meetup is for you! All languages and levels are welcome.

How it works:
When you arrive, look for an organizer who will help you make a nametag and get seated.

We usually gather around 1-3 tables depending on the languages people want to practice. The most popular languages are English, Spanish, French, and Chinese, but we also have occasional tables for Portuguese, Japanese, and more! Comment with the language you want to practice to increase your chances of finding a language partner.

You should spend about half the time practicing and half the time helping others.

The event will take place indoors in the main hall of the Brooklyn Central Library. Google map link

This event is FREE. We accept contributions via Venmo before or after the event (@langroops). Your contributions allow us to continue holding this and other fun language learning events.

We kindly ask participants to avoid discussions about political and religious topics and to avoid any kind of solicitation at our events. This is not a dating event, so please avoid any kind of interaction that may make other attendees feel uncomfortable. If you feel like someone is acting inappropriately, please approach one of the organizers so that we can handle it.

We sometimes take pictures at our events for memories and social media - we will try and notify you beforehand.

Who are we?
Langroops is a hub of volunteer-led language exchange communities that conduct weekly free events for a wide variety of languages. We pride ourselves on being a safe place for sincere language learners to come and practice with native speakers.

FAQs:
Can I come if I am a beginner/haven't started learning yet?
Language learners and enthusiasts of all levels are welcome! That said, you will get the most out of the event if you can speak at least a little in the language you are learning.

Can I come late?
Yes! You can come at any time you like after the event has started.

What time does the event end?
The official times for the event are 3-5 PM after which the library closes.

How often does this event take place?
Every weekend!

Can I move between tables?
Of course! If you are practicing multiple languages, you can move between tables as you wish. Just make sure you spend some time helping people with your native language!

Where is the English table?
Every table is an English table! Just go to the table with the sign for your native language and meet English speakers learning your language to practice with.

Is there an X language table?
All tables are based on attendance, and our popular tables are listed above. We try to connect people who share language interests at the event. We are happy to open a table for any language - just comment below and arrive on time :)
