Join us for the exciting return of the World Languages Café, now back in person!

The World Languages Café serves as an engaging platform for individuals to practice a language they know or are currently learning. Experience the joy of conversation in a welcoming environment, connect with fellow culture enthusiasts, enhance your language skills through speaking and listening, and discover practical phrases for your travels. Additionally, this is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the languages of your childhood.

Held monthly throughout the year, the World Languages Café takes place every second Thursday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Howard County Library Miller Branch. Participants can join any language table of their choice, each hosted by a native speaker who will guide the conversation. Available languages include American Sign Language, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese Chinese, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Farsi, French, German, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Irish Gaelic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.

Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Guests are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks, and feel free to share culinary treats from your culture with your table!

For further details, to check if a native speaker will be present for your preferred language, to inquire about becoming a language table host, or to join the World Languages Café email group, please reach out to vincentvincent profile picture.

If you are a Language Table Host (a native or fluent speaker of a specific language), kindly inform us of your availability to host by sending an email to vincentvincent profile picture. If you are new and interested in hosting a table, please specify the language you speak fluently.
