Join us for an unforgettable adventure at the breathtaking Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, known as 'El Rosario'.

This remarkable Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve is designated as a World Heritage Site. It serves as a crucial over-wintering habitat for millions of monarch butterflies. Nestled in the stunning Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, this pine-oak forest ecoregion straddles the border of Michoacán and the State of Mexico, located approximately 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City. Each year, countless butterflies flock to this preserve, but they inhabit only a small portion of the expansive 56,000 hectares from October to March. The mission of the biosphere is to safeguard not just the butterfly species, but also their natural habitat.

Prepare for a scenic uphill trek lasting about 1.5 hours. We'll take our time to acclimate to the altitude (3,000 meters) while soaking in the stunning views of the forest and the enchanting Monarch Butterflies. For those who prefer a more leisurely journey, horse rentals are available.

To ensure we can organize the appropriate transportation for our group, please make your payment at least 5 to 7 days prior to the tour date.

The total cost for this experience is 1,150 Mexican Pesos. This fee covers private transport for the group, a knowledgeable bilingual guide, an experienced driver, and entrance to the Butterfly Sanctuary.

We will meet for pickup at Angel de la Independencia.
