Join us for an unforgettable journey to the breathtaking Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, known as 'El Rosario', one of the largest sanctuaries in the world.

The Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, serves as the wintering grounds for millions of monarch butterflies. Nestled within the lush pine-oak forests of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, this extraordinary reserve is situated approximately 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City, straddling the borders of Michoacán and Mexico State. Each year, from October to March, millions of these stunning butterflies flock to the reserve, which spans over 56,000 hectares. The mission of this biosphere is to safeguard not only the monarch butterfly species but also their natural habitat.

Prepare for a challenging yet rewarding uphill trek lasting about 1.5 hours. We'll take our time to acclimate to the altitude of 3,000 meters while soaking in the magnificent views of the forest and the enchanting Monarch Butterflies. For those who prefer a gentler approach, horse rides are available.

To ensure we can arrange suitable transportation for our group, please make your payment 5 to 7 days in advance of the tour date.

The cost for this incredible experience is 1250 Mexican Pesos, which covers private transportation for the group, an experienced driver, a tour coordinator, and admission to the Butterfly Sanctuary.

We will meet for pick-up at the Angel de la Independencia.
