Mixquic, a renowned member of the 21 Barrios Mágicos in Mexico City, is celebrated for its vibrant Day of the Dead traditions. During this festive time, the local cemetery transforms into a mesmerizing spectacle, illuminated by candles and adorned with flowers, as families welcome the spirits of their departed loved ones with the first offerings of the season.

However, the charm of Mixquic extends beyond this iconic celebration. Throughout the year, visitors can immerse themselves in its magical ambiance, exploring the stunning monastery complete with a beautiful rose garden and archaeological artifacts, all set against the backdrop of a sprawling cemetery. As we wander through the quaint streets, we can admire vibrant murals—many celebrating Día de Muertos—while discovering the nearby channels and chinampas, reminiscent of Xochimilco, and indulging in the local culinary delights.

Tlahuac, located just a stone's throw away, offers its own unique attractions, including another breathtaking monastery, a bustling market, additional channels and chinampas, and a fascinating local museum featuring three exquisite pre-Hispanic ovens shaped like masks (please note that visits depend on irregular opening hours).

Both towns lie within the boundaries of Mexico City, approximately 2 to 2.5 hours south of the historic city center, depending on traffic conditions.

The cost for this remarkable experience is 950 pesos, which includes transportation, a trajinera ride, and guided tours.

Reservations require advance payment, which can be made in cash at any 7 Eleven store or through a cash deposit at any Banamex bank. International participants can also use Wise for payment.
