Join us for an unforgettable experience at the magnificent Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary ´El Rosario´.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, a renowned World Heritage Site that serves as a haven for these extraordinary creatures. Nestled within the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt pine-oak forests ecoregion, this reserve spans across Michoacán and Mexico State, just 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City.

Every year, millions of butterflies migrate to this sanctuary, seeking refuge during the winter months. Witness this breathtaking phenomenon as they gracefully populate a portion of the reserve's vast 56,000 hectares from October to March. It is not only the butterflies that are protected here; the biosphere is also dedicated to preserving their natural habitat.

Prepare for a moderate uphill hike lasting approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Take your time to acclimate to the altitude of 3000 meters and relish the awe-inspiring views of the forest and the majestic Monarch Butterflies (horseback riding options available).

To secure your spot, we kindly request payment 5 to 7 days prior to the tour date. This allows us to organize appropriate transportation for the group.

The tour fee is 1650 Mexican Pesos and covers private transport, an experienced driver, a coordinator, and entrance to the Butterfly Sanctuary.
