Join us for an unforgettable visit to the world-renowned Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary ´El Rosario´.

Nestled within the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, this sanctuary is home to the over-wintering habitats of the magnificent monarch butterfly. Located in the picturesque Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt pine-oak forests ecoregion, on the border of Michoacán and Mexico State, just 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City, this natural wonder attracts millions of butterflies every year. From October to March, the butterflies grace only a small portion of the expansive 56,000-hectare reserve. The mission of the biosphere is not only to protect this incredible species but also its precious habitat.

Prepare for an invigorating uphill hike of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, during which we will take our time to acclimatize to the elevation of 3000 meters and marvel at the breathtaking views of the forest and the Monarch Butterflies. For those who prefer a more leisurely option, horses are available for assistance.

To ensure a smooth and seamless experience, please make your payment promptly, 5 to 7 days before the tour date. This will allow us to arrange the appropriate transportation for our group.
