GIVE ANSWERS - Русский язык

when i used some translation tools, i found out that до этого means "before that" and раньше means "before". so i have 2 "before"s in the same sentence. 
is there some kind of phrase that uses both words?
by the way the whole sentence is: почему я раньше до этого не додумался?  but the rest is clear to me.
