Hi there, I just started learning Mandarin and I wonder how I can write non chinese names, in Pinyin as well as in chinese characters.
My name is Benjamin, how would I spell and write that?
Am I guessing right, that the Pinyin has to be spelled as the sounds do sound, I am from Austria, therefore Benjamin is spelled german, not english.
Do you use a syllable system for the characters?
Thanks in advance, Xièxie nîmen

BennoniDecember 2017 Super, vielen lieben Dank!
GrimPixelDecember 2017 I recommend you to use Colemak keyboard, which is capable for typing many kinds of diacritic. The following one is a reference. I think 本雅明 can be better. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcription_into_Chinese_characters#Transcription_table |
GrimPixelDecember 2017 They are written with Chinese characters, with some rules of choosing characters for each syllable. Also the falling-rising tone is indicated with a háček instead of a circumflex. |
BennoniDecember 2017 Thanks for your answer. I know I needed hacek, but I don't know how to type that. Maybe I should arrange that chinese (as well as other foreign keyboards) someday on my computer...
