Die Welle (famous tragedy occured in America, a teacher wanted to show his students that fascism can happen anytime, fantastic movie)
Fack ju Göhte (comedy, very famous, i don't know it though)

    ”Im Westen nichts neues” - ”Nothing new on the western front” is a very good anti war movie that illustrates the trauma, dreams and hopes of young german soldiers in WW1 from a German perspective. There are three versions about it the oldest after the war and the newest In the 2020’s.

    Oh and Das Leben der Anderen is also a good movie, but my DVD doesn't have german subtitles, and I showed it to a german learning friend, it was way too hard, so I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner/intermediate
