Lerning German, starting point

Today I felt that I'm ready to learn further than English and Spanish, which I've been practising for a long time. Then I put German on my list of languages and I thought "why not"?

The thing is: I don't know ANYTHING about German, it will be the very first time I will try to make an exchange with someone in this language.

So, if you know English (and I would imagine if you're reading till here you surely do ^^), could you help me on my very first step into this remarkable language? Thank you.
