Are children games a good way to learn to speak French?

I have the European versions of games from my childhood. The whole Humongous Entertainment set off Steam. I am picking up words and can mostly make my way through the game without subtitles. I know in English the way the characters talk is not exactly the way I speak English though. I was hoping for a native speaker's thoughts on if I am wasting my time or not.

I think it is a very good idea, to play children games, read children books when you start learning a language, because it's often the most simple and important vocabulary

I haven't played at these games for a while, so I can't answer. But you could start listening to tv shows or animated movies. It worked for me
