English speaker use love, hate, but also like and dislike. It's just a matter of sense, effect. Like and dislike are more formal and have a lower intensity that love and hate.

Love and hate are less meaningful in English perhaps. I love cookies ...or I hate pasta. You don't really feel love or hate towards the object or thing just easy to say I guess.
