Yes, it’s old-fashioned.

About the only place I see it still being used is outdated textbooks used for teaching English as a second language smile.gif

There might be isolated groups of native English speakers who might continue to use it, but it’s definitely very rare at best.

its more of a rare idiom now, most people just say something like ”wow, it’s raining really hard, huh?” or something like that.

    ”It’s raining really hard” is primarily American English. ”It’s raining really heavily.” would be more used in British English.

    Both British and American English use ”it’s pouring” to idiomatically talk about heavy rain.

    Another idiom used in British English to talk about heavy rain is ”it’s bucketing down” - like water is being poured from buckets. This one is probably used even more in Australian English
