Hello guys! I have got a question here for English Native speakers. ” Be with the truth even if you are alone.” what’s correct in this sentence? ( if you are alone, or if you were alone) and why?

The correct expression for this phrase is ”when you are alone,” as it refers to a hypothetical situation, now or in the future.

Using ”if you are alone” would imply that the situation referred to was in the past, which is not what the phrase is meant to do.

Therefore, the original sentence ”being alone with the truth” is correct, expressing that even if only one person is insisting on the truth, one should stick to the truth.
