Hello, could you please explain ”sales”? ”They’re hiring temporary sales help for the holiday season”. Is it always plural ?

”Sales” refers to ”selling”, particularly in discount / cheap shops/stores or supermarkets. ”Sale” could be used as an adjective, but these constructions are generally very formal language.

As an adjective, most of the time it’s plural. In general it’s actually relatively rare to use a noun in plural form as an adjective in English.
