Firstly, "tedious" and "boring" are synonymous with the sense of "uninteresting", but "tedious" has a much stronger meaning than "boring" for several reasons.

We also tend to use "tedious" for activities which produce emotional responses such as anger / nervousness etc as a result of both being uninteresting and for the continuation of the activity.

"My job is boring." = The work that I do is uninteresting, but I don't feel so emotional about it.

"Reading this book is tedious!" = I feel annoyed/angry/nervous reading this book because it is so uninteresting!
