tortillaJune 2019 In my experience, to retaliate is to rebel or act in a manner in which you aren't supposed to. For example, if I wanted to retaliate against my parents' rules, I would sneak out past curfew; another example of retaliation could be against the government by holding a protest or something of that sort.
