azeem_omerJanuary 2019 Be is the future tense while "being" is the present participle. When we are using "being" ,we are describing about the present moment. Let me explain you through few examples. 1)a)He is lazy This sentence is telling about the personality of the person that he is lazy. (b)He is being lazy. In this sentence being is used to describe the present behavior of the person. This means that person is not always lazy but today he is looking lazy. 2)a)mother is cooking food. If you want to start the sentence by focusing mainly on food, we can say, The food is being cooked by mother. 3)being late,he couldn't watch the match. In this sentence we can also use because/as/since Because he was late,he couldn't watch the watch or since he was late, he couldn't watch the match or since he was late, he couldn't watch the match. If a person is always active but he is not behaving good today, you can ask him, Why are you being lazy. I hope you understand. |
