May is used when there is a possibility that something happens:
it may rain.
may is also used to to express opportunity or permission:
You may enter.
May I go to the bathroom?

Must is used to express something you are obliged to do

    Good answer. Although the interplay of these words can become complex. In legal language, 'may' may have the meaning of 'must'. And when a monarch says 'You may leave', it means 'You must leave'.
