I'm cold usually means 'I feel cold'. To say 'I'm sick' using the word 'cold' you would normally say 'I have a cold'. At least, where I live, that's how it works.

It depends on the context; you'll know the meaning by what is said around the statement "I'm cold".

That's correct. If you were sick, you would say....."I'm sick". Not, "I'm cold". Excellent explanation.
