Back to the past: One year ago, what was going on for me?
- One year ago, when the leaves were getting red because of the sun hitting them, I was taking my first steps far from home.
- Another country, another city, other customs.
- The suffocation I felt on the first days quickly went away and let lots of space for discovering and amazement.
- My first walk never led me much farther than the end of the street: afraid of getting lost in such a big, noisy and tumultuous city.
- But it didn’t take much time before I ventured out in search of new experiences.
- Walking along the boulevards, crossing the streets of the city centre, getting to know the parks and their thousands of wonders.
- I’ve loved Madrid since the very first second.
- One year ago, I had an incomplete vision of the city, of all its different parts I could only see like unattached pieces floating away from each other.
- And today I finally see them all together like a big and beautiful puzzle.
- One year ago, I was learning the people’s way of life.
- I struggled to meet new friends.
- I was learning the language, the habits, and life as it is here.
- But I was still feeling lost, everything was new for me.
- I was finding out new feelings, new sensations: the wind in the trees makes another noise, the sunbeam illuminate the city in a different way, the streets have a new smell, I hear noises I didn’t know.
- And everything is moving so fast… One year ago I wasn’t sure of it yet but I had just taken a huge step into my future.
