  • "from the doors of" question

  • (I have submitted my question here, because my text surpasses the limited characters allowance in the “question” section) Hi everybody !
    • Hope you are all having a good day.
  • I’m a newcomer in this community, I signed up yesterday in fact, I’d be pleased to help you with your french, just send me a message, though, to be honest, I prefer face to face conversation, so if you currently live in Paris or in the outskirts of the city, don’t hesitate to contact me basically :-) Now, I have a simple question (well, there are no simple questions you may argue...^^, but anyway here it is), is the sentence “I don’t live very far away from the doors of Paris” grammatically and commonly used in English ?
  • The part I am interested in is “from the doors of”, I could have said “from the centre of Paris” for example, but here what I want to convey is that I live near, or at relatively short distance away from the borders of the capital.
  • And I wonder if (can we use “whether” here, instead of “if” since we are at it, ^^) there is any other way of expressing this idea, maybe with the word “threshold” ?
  • Thanks a lot in advance for your answers.
  • (learning languages is so exciting, sorry, this statement comes out of the blue, but I couldn’t resist it, ^^)

PLEASE, HELP TO CORRECT EACH SENTENCE! - English
