    • Op: teachers need more than just a good knowledge of their subj

  • In my opinion teachers need to have a range of skills that go beyond the speciality of their subject.
  • I also think that these skills are even more important than the subject.
    • For example: if you have high knowledge about maths but you don’t have any teaching skills, it will probably be a disaster.
    • But in the opposite, you can have very good skills teaching and less in the subject, and make pupils learn and be motivated.
    • For me, teachers goal isn’t to teach but to be referent adult, to educate for life, and to motivate in learning.
    • So it’s very important that teachers have high sensibility in knowing every kid in the class and it’s needs and in detecting the class ”climate” every day and during the day.
    • Not every person learns the same way and there can be others issues that influence the pupils as problems at home, relation with the other kids, self-concept, motivational state... that affect each one of the pupils of the class.
    • That’s the reason why I think knowing the subject for a teacher is totally a secondary aim, and all the others, fundamental.
