    • Birth of Light

    • The Summer solstice day is the longest day of the year and the shortest night which in the Northern hemisphere is on the 21 of June.
    • I decided that this night is too short for sleeping, so I spent these few hours cycling.
    • I started my journey at the sunset, in a case to meet the sunrise in a special place.
    • While the sun was lighting the shortest day for the other side of the planet, I overcame more than 60 km to meet it on the one of the highest sand dune in Europe.
    • It is located on the Curonian Spit and called dune Orekhovaya (or Petsh), the highest point here is the Efa’s Height which is 62 metres, it is also the highest point of the whole Curonian Spit.
  • As I cycled at night, I met some wild animals.
    • There were hedgehogs, huddle in a fear close to the path, the whole flock of striped baby boars, which scattered as I appear, a fox fast crossed the road and a timid roe deer hurriedly galloped past.
    • Rather they were more afraid of a possible meeting, than I did, as they hastily retreated and I was calmly continuing my way.
    • The sun ups above the dune at 03.55 this day.
    • I arrived 2 hours earlier, there was on the dark sky the crescent moon colored in deep yellow and the horizon already has started turning red.
    • The action gradually developed.
    • It was the beautiful scene - here spread out the huge sand dune, there the quite bay in one side and the foaming sea on the other and everywhere around endless forests, 2/3 of which is pines.
    • The birds are singing, the sea is noising and the light is born.
  • The picture is mesmerizing.
    • I’ve spent a lot of time there and then I have to leave this beauty to go on the meeting with this long summer day.
