Text from CEDRICLANARRE - English

    • Self centered

    • A little more than twenty four years ago, I had a conversation with an American young lady about the US election cycle.
  • She was just amazed that we French paid so much attention to America’s presidential election, especially since the reverse never happened according to her.
  • To this day, I remember the exact word she used to describe Americans: self-centered.
  • As a matter of fact, I think it was the first time I ever heard it, but I immediately understood its meaning.
  • Watching the reactions of Kamala Harris’ supporters after the results of the last election, I fondly recalled that conversation.
  • We may be on the brink of World War III, but the only thing that seems to matter to some people is their feelings or their “reproductive rights” (an oxymoron if there ever was one, since abortion is the exact opposite of reproduction).
    • Not a single word on Kamala Harris’ positions on foreign policy and the fact that she was endorsed by Liz Cheney of all people!
    • And then they wonder why so many people, especially Latinos, Blacks and even Muslims, voted for Donald Trump.
  • They have no clue!
  • Despite the fact that modern technology now allows us to actually listen to what other people say, they choose to remain in an echo chamber and think that their perception of reality is all there is.
  • Since Kamala Harris is a woman of color, the only reason why some people did not vote for her is (internalized) racism and misogyny!
  • I’m not saying they should listen to us French.
  • Most of us are completely irrational when it comes to the US and the mainstream media here was as pro-Kamala as CNN and MSNBC.
  • They should listen to their fellow citizens.
  • After all, they are all about diversity and inclusion and the population of the US is certainly very diverse, but somehow they seem to expect very different people to share the exact same opinions on every single issue.
  • For instance, they seem totally clueless as to why people who came from parts of the world where men are still men, and women still women, might not be thrilled by the whole LGBTQA+ agenda.
