Have you ever see a silent movie?

Some years ago I just only heard of it and thought it’s something as old as time.

But then I got to the showing within of the silent film festival called ”Elektrichka”.

This small festival passes in the seaside town in open air and became annual and associate to me with the summer, as a part of this special and so loving by me time.

During the summer there are about 3-4 shows of silent movies, each time different and what was surprising for me - interesting and often with a deep meaning.

Of course a silent movie comes to this not at once, there were a long way till it became a great thing with an elaborate plot, diverse shooting, tricks, intertitles, musical accompaniments and so on.

Due to the fact that a cinematograph was silent, it uses the other ways of expression such as special kind of pantomime.

Really amazing how expressive movements of actors, how much can shows a silent face.

Silent movie reached the peak of its prowess by mid-1920.

At that time appears the best films of that era.

Such as for example Sherlock, Jr, The General, The Gold Rush and lots of other.

It’s not surprising that legends of a fallen era were against of arrival of sound, but anyway it comes.

It came and supplanted expressive silence, so sunsets the era of silent films.

Although lots of films of that time were destroyed, not more than 25% reached as, I guess the best are still there and able to give us a magic summer evening in a seaside town, the evening when a fallen era comes alive again.
