  • Forest Berries

    • In last years forest berries such as blueberry and cranberry are gaining popularity.
    • Although they are demand special condition, such as acidic soil, high humidity and a lot of water, without water stagnation at the same time, good lighting - it doesn’t stop lots of gardeners.
  • I also grow them.
  • I have a special part in my garden for forest berries.
    • In Russian we have two different words for golubika and chernika, but in English they are both blueberry.
    • Although it two completely different plants.
    • Golubika usually is spreading and higher, than chernika, which rarely higher than 30 sm.
  • Golubika loves a lot of sun, while chernika prefers shady places.
    • Their leaves are also very different and even the taste of berries is different too. I grow both.
    • As they are forest berries I bring for them pine litter and try to acidify the soil near them.
    • But nothing gives so good result as regular peat, of course high peat - sour.
    • Also there are some other ”interesting” condition for its growing.
  • For example, moisture-charging irrigation in autumn and fogging installations to root the cuttings.
    • But we don’t need it, we are rich in these phenomena by nature.
