  • Defender of the Fatherland Day

    • On the 23td of February in Russia celebrated Defender of the Fatherland Day.
    • It was timed to the formation of the Red army in 1918.
    • Also the holiday at that time called the day of a red gift, because it was customary to donate presents to soldiers of Red Army.
    • Then the name and scope of a holiday changed several times, until it became a day off and something akin Men’s Day in general, although its name still connected with defenders of the Fatherland, who in my opinion are military.
    • Anyway, attention and presents in this day often get all men.
    • Though socks and shaving accessories, which receive most men, is difficult to called presents.
    • To be fair, I’ll add that International Women Day, which follows in two weeks, I also dislike.
    • Women’s rights doesn’t infringe upon anymore, everyone is equal, no need to fight and defend it, at least in European part of the world.
    • I’d like that both of these holiday finally lost its need, that always was peace and equality, instead of contrived holidays.
