  • What is more important: to prevent or treat diseases?
    • That is the tough question facing our authorities.
    • A recent TV debate on the issue of whether sports and recreation charities or health charities should receive funding couldn’t reach a consensus.
  • However, it should be possible to find a solution.
    • What we are going to do first is analyze why it’s so crucial to support sport and recreation charities.
    • Firstly, we need to take into consideration that the more hectic pace of life is, the more people feel exhausted and constantly seek ways to recharge their batteries.
    • Secondly, the prices for commercial fitness and entertaining services have been skyrocketing for the past several years.
    • Based on the mentioned factors, it’s getting obvious that the government should be concerned about providing investments for organizations, which address their free-of-charge services to keep the population in a decent physical and mental condition.
    • On the other side of the scales, we’ve got health charities, which do their best to tackle already existed health issues.
    • Cancer, genetic and hereditary diseases, traumas, etc. There is an almost countless list of terrible diagnoses, which request an enormous amount of energy and money from vulnerable patients, devastated relatives and medical personnel.
    • Meanwhile, charity organizations can make a huge difference.
    • Not only do their volunteers considerably ease the medical procedures and processes of recovery and rehabilitation, but their fonds can also cover prohibitively expensive drugs, surgeries and prosthetic devices for invalids.
    • Taking into account all the factors, we can conclude that both directions are worth to be invested.
    • However, my strong recommendation would be to finance health charities since their mission is to deal with life-and-death matters, whereas sports and recreation activities are only preventive measures.
