- Relationship between self-efficacy and girls’ attitude toward physical activity and it’s comparison in public and private high schools.
- The purpose of this investigation was to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and girls’ attitude toward physical activity and compare it in public and private high schools.
- 240 students (i.e., public schools=120 and private schools=120) from Iran’s Ministry of Education located in Tehran district NO.
- 4 were participated in this study.
- The attitude toward physical activities and self-efficacy of students who were selected through random cluster sampling were measured by the Children’s Attitude toward Physical Activity Inventory (VAEZ MOUSAVI .et al) and the SHERER .et al self-efficacy scale.
- Pearson correlation and T-test were used for data analysis.
- The results showed a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and social sustainability, refinement and austerity subscales in public high schools and social sustainability, aesthetics and refinement subscales in private high schools.
- There were no significant differences between self-efficacy in public and private high schools.
- In addition, there were significant differences in social sustainability, health and fitness, danger and excitement and aesthetics subscales between public and private high school students (p ≤ 0.05).
- The students of public high schools had better attitude towards social sustainability, health and fitness, aesthetics than private students while private students had a better attitude toward danger and excitement.
- The study results suggest that the regular education program with emphasis on the subscales of attitude and self-efficacy is effective on increase of physical activity.
