  • Phd vs Job

  • Personally, I would prefer to apply for a Phd position rather than to apply for a job.
    • I really like studying and I am really enjoing my last year of university.
    • Since I was in high school, I always wanted to be a researcher, even though it’ s not that simple.
  • I study Computer Engineering and my prefered field is artificial intelligence and soft computing.
  • In fact I’ m already looking for some Phd vacations in that field.
    • I would’ t mind going abroad: it would be even more interesting.
    • I liked my experiences in labs and I enjoyed taking part to research grops.
  • I did my thesis in the “Industrial Informatics” lab and it was about Image processing and Computer Vision.
  • I am not currently looking for any job.
  • In Italy almost all IT positions are about consulting, and I don’ t like that kind of job at all.
  • Three years ago I worked for a company in my native town.
  • I didn’ t like that experience because it was too stressful and people weren’ t that nice.
  • I quitted my job after only six months.
  • I know that being a researcher is not that comfortable.
  • They earn very little and dealing with research and teaching at the same time takes many hours.
  • I am sure that I couldn’ t have a family and my house wouldn’ t be that wonderful as I have always dreamed of.
  • But a very good point about being a researcher is that you can travel a lot.
  • I would really like to travel for joining meetings and for getting to know people that study my same subject.

  • I can definitely say that I would prefer to be a researcher in the near future.
